It’s this way because we want it this way

Originally posted on Whatever Works:
From Bloombery News, this is something that’s been screamingly obvious, and widely known. It has, however, been barred from any examination of American health care reforms. Because Denial isn’t just a streetcar, it is a national state…

Brain research the new ‘moon shot’ – CNN.com (Reflections)

This gallery contains 1 photo.

I’ve not said so before, but sparked by a popular question these days of “What shall we do next?”, (now that ‘space exploration phases 1 and 2 – moon and shuttle – have come to a close). I’ve privately thought: “Oh!, Let’s learn what we need to know about ourselves so we can create a future that includes everyone!” More publicly, my entire blog is dedicated to helping spark interest in just such an initiative — in which we dedicate ourselves to learning and doing what we need to learn and do, to create an inclusive society, a society in which we uplift one another. I both appreciate, and have a caution, about a proposal that wants to elevate “brain study” to a space-race equivalent. Continue reading

Obama Approves Use of Armed Predator Drones Over Libya – ABC News

This gallery contains 1 photo.

…And I especially detest drones. So far, drones are the most monstrous war machine, ever. Distant, mechanical, deadly, unannounced, silent. I can’t imagine the constant heightened state of trauma chemistry coursing through the bodies of people living where drone strikes are a possibility…., …The satisfaction of “doing something meaningful and/or grand” by strutting brutal power in our world is, fundamentally, no different today than it was one, or two, thousand years ago. Technology has changed, but human commitment to a world of shared respect and wide-spread common weal has not budged one inch forward. Continue reading

Shalom Bayit – Blog Post On American Health Care

This gallery contains 1 photo.

Ahavah Gayle offers a comment on her blog ‘Shalom Bayit’, to a letter (she gives it in full) posted by a military physician who entered private practice. He offers one of the most reasoned and eloquent studies of, and arguments for, universal coverage I’ve read in brief essay form. — Further: Obama said today, (paraphrased): “Americans will contribute to food and health care costs in support of the people in Libya.”. I, and all others without coverage in the United States – join with all humanitarian-minded Americans in support of this declaration of aid. But it must be said, Obama’s statement is peculiar in light of his role in the failure of American health care reform. Strong action on behalf of humanity is required by logic, (if not by heart), to be inclusive. Continue reading

Questions for Americans re MidEast

In my last post, I asked: What do we expect government to do, as ‘coordinating agency’ of our own making, to keep our society one that uplifts human potential?… Continue reading

Connecticut’s 21st Century Health Care Plan

I think if Americans experienced an intelligently run universal program, they’d wonder why they resisted, feared, for so long. …I have never, ever, met anyone who has successfully removed his/her own appendix. Continue reading

Merit Pay Cultural Impact: Service: Education, Health Care

Merit pay is a form of immaturity unique to adults. Let’s lose the cynicism about human willingness to serve. …Let’s take a page from the child’s book: “A little child shall lead you”. Let’s pretend we know what that means. Continue reading

New World Order Conspiracy 2: Who Are ‘They’, Who Are ‘We’?

If we are to conquer this situation, we had better learn to recognize the potential to elitism and “power over” in ourselves while we are at it. Continue reading

Martin Luther King, Health Care, Mountain Climbing

“He ain’t heavy Mister — he’s m’ brother!” In our individual and cultural (mountain) climb, we may learn to carry one another. We may also learn the burden is not so heavy as we imagine, or as we fear. Continue reading
