Strauss-Kahn, IMF, Justice – Lessons for Humanity

This gallery contains 1 photo.

When in university, I told a friend I hoped “to one day write all that needs to be said in a single sentence”. This single post brings me closer. For me, it’s possible to ‘see’ much of “all humanity’s 21st century challenge” captured in the ‘S-K, IMF, Justice’ drama. This post explores what the drama suggests to me. … I see no viable option for humanity but to ‘dream a big INclusive dream’ and ‘go for it’. Continue reading

Obama Approves Use of Armed Predator Drones Over Libya – ABC News

This gallery contains 1 photo.

…And I especially detest drones. So far, drones are the most monstrous war machine, ever. Distant, mechanical, deadly, unannounced, silent. I can’t imagine the constant heightened state of trauma chemistry coursing through the bodies of people living where drone strikes are a possibility…., …The satisfaction of “doing something meaningful and/or grand” by strutting brutal power in our world is, fundamentally, no different today than it was one, or two, thousand years ago. Technology has changed, but human commitment to a world of shared respect and wide-spread common weal has not budged one inch forward. Continue reading

BBC News – ANC’s Julius Malema defends ‘shoot the Boer’ song

This gallery contains 1 photo.

The nation of South Africa, demonstrated, for the world, a greatly ‘enlightened’ way for humans to resolve conflict – conflict with an extreme history of brutality and violence. The Truth and Reconcilliation Commission far surpasses “achievements” such as flying into space. Whether or not the spirit of the Truth and Reconcilliation Commission returns, and is allowed to be the standard of performance guiding minds and hearts of all involved, remains to be seen. Continue reading

Too little, too late? – Inside Story – Al Jazeera English

Dear Readers! My reasons for this post are several, significantly a reminder of universality of the call for human dignity – it is not a ‘western’ concept, but is inborn.  To my mind, we, in at least the United States … Continue reading

Path to Economic Normal Is Sacrifice – A Ritual

With earthquakes, humans are proud of designing and using construction that prevents building collapse. With the economy, we, in effect, say: “It’s an act of god”. …We know better than to throw selected citizens into volcanoes or off cliffs to appease the gods…is sacrificing selected populations for economic recovery, our best, our only, solution?… Continue reading

Plagiarism and Manipulative E-mail ‘Fwds’: Copy-thinking is Wonderfully Convenient!

This gallery contains 1 photo.

“Copy-thinking” is not new. It is part of the same innate ‘call to tribal experience’, acceptance of “unexamined culturally held beliefs” that has been with us “forever”. But — copy-thinking is now a literally available convenience. Not bothering to think for ourselves is easier than ever! Continue reading
